Emirates, the Official Global Airline Partner of the NBA and the inaugural title partner of the Emirates NBA Cup, showcased the coveted championship trophy aboard its iconic Airbus A380 adorned with a striking NBA livery. The highly anticipated basketball tournament kicked off on 12 November and will conclude with a Championship game on 17 December in Las Vegas.
Passengers traveling with Emirates were treated to a unique experience, being able to watch select Emirates NBA Cup games live on Sport24 in-flight, along with exploring a playlist featuring NBA legends and an interview podcast with NBA Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer Mark Tatum. In addition, until 22 November, customers can enjoy an NBA-themed food and beverage menu at Emirates’ lounges in Dubai, New York JFK, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Boston.
Basketball enthusiasts had the opportunity to purchase limited edition replica aircraft models sporting the new NBA livery and other NBA merchandise from the Emirates Official Store. The tournament continued with 12 group play matchups including a game between the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Coinciding with the Emirates NBA Cup, passengers traveling to-and-from 13 points in the U.S. and Canada will experience NBA-inspired products and services onboard Emirates flights until 17 December. Premium Economy and Economy Class passengers will enjoy co-branded headrests and special drink coasters in Business Class and Premium Economy.
The experience was elevated with a specially themed flight that included basketball-inspired cabin décor across all classes. Customers were served food and snacks in NBA-branded boxes, along with the chance to watch NBA classic games on the airline’s entertainment system, ice. Live Cup games will also be available throughout the tournament.
The Emirates A380 onboard Lounge for First and Business Class welcomed passengers to socialize and enjoy traditional gameday snacks with NBA legend James Worthy. NBA-inspired food selections were available throughout all cabin classes on the flight. The Emirates A380 with the NBA-themed livery, unveiled the previous month, features a vibrant design in celebration of the partnership.
